EARTH BEER 30, EB30 NATION #2 April 2008.

Hi-Dee-Ho Beerkateers!

It's been an amazing first few months...

Thank you all for your support. The message boards have exploded, Rick's made some great improvements on the site, our partnerships are growing, and EB30 is officially an independent company with it's own tax I.D.. number and bank accounts.

This month's interview is with the "Spoiler-Man" himself...

mazingman728.

EB30: So how did you become involved with EB30?

'mazingman728: I was not a part of EB30 to begin with. I saw it many times on the 52 Board but didn't even take a look at the thread until it was really going. I kept seeing names of posters that I had become friends with on other threads and boards on the DCMB and finally looked into it and made post 331 which kind of shows how late I joined the show. I stuck around because it was a fun thread with good people from the 52 Board to Countdown to it's own site.

EB30: You got to be known for your Spoilers. How did that happen?

'mazingman728: It happened during Infinite Crisis. A poster by the name of AngelofDeath was posting Spoilers for the series for the first couple of issues and I started answering questions along the way with his Spoilers so it became know that I also was privy to a copy ahead of time so we began to switch on who did the Spoilers for which issue, He did 1-4 and 6 and I did 5 & 7. It was during the thread for issue 7 Spoilers that I was asked if I would keep it up for 52; I believe it was MunkeyPunk who asked. I said that I would until DC asked me to stop doing so. So the basis for doing Spoilers through 52 was too keep my word and to help get readers excited about the book ahead of time in order to help sales on the book.

EB30: And DC did ask which brings us to Spoilergate.
Can you share your thoughts on that?

'mazingman728: First off, DC was very polite in the matter. I have no ill feelings towards DC for asking me to stop and I am really surprised that I was allowed to post Spoilers on the DCMB for as long as I had. Second, I am surprised at how far spread that the Spoilers I posted had spread. I had no idea that my posts were being copied and pasted onto as many websites as they were and I still find new site from running searches every now and then. I have even seen news articles about Spoilergate in Italian which blew my mind. Other than that I have nothing else to say.

EB30: So how long have you been reading comics?

'mazingman728: I started reading in the mid-70s. My first super-hero comic was an issue of Tales to Astonish, then Flash, Thor, and Hulk. My favorite has been the Hulk, most likely because I can relate to Bruce Banner being the mild-manner person that you don't want to get angry because then you need to watch out. For DC my favorite character is Wonder Woman which is probably due to the television series which I watched every Friday night religiously. Lynda Carter, scantly dressed, 'nuff said.

EB30: You mention going to the "Dojo"...care to explain?

'mazingman728: On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights I go to karate lessons; Tang-Te Kempo is the style. So when I say I am off to the dojo, I am off to class. I have been taking it since August and am a orange belt with a purple stripe and working on my second stripe.

EB30: What's your favorite/most memorable moment in a comic?

'mazingman728: I would have to go with Daredevil #181 when Elektra died...for the first time. Here was this great character that Frank Miller continued to build up and sure the cover said that one would die, but who believes comic book covers and then surprise she gets a sai to the gut. You could almost feel the pain yourself.

EB30: Favorite artist...and why?

'mazingman728: George Perez. I have always loved the detail he puts into his drawings as well as his drawing people to correct anatomy.

EB30: Favorite writer...and why?

'mazingman728: All time, I would have to go with Marv Wolfman. From his Marvel days to his DC days I feel that he has always written his characters as people being people dealing with a situation verses a situation leading the character.

EB30: Will we ever see "Mary Marvel" again? Care to break a few hearts and "Spoil" the truth...? (Did jokergas ever get his ladder back?)

'mazingman728: I don't know if we will ever see Mary Marvel in "her" true form anymore but if you look closely to my troll Hunting I think you just may catch a glimpse of her. As for the origin of Mary Marvel, I was curious one night as to why I had seen no one with the screen name of Mary Marvel on the DCMB so I created the name to see if it would take and it did much to my surprise. After that the name sat dormant for a while until I figure that I would us Mary Marvel as a test by providing Spoilers elsewhere on the DCMB but in a different format to see how it went over; much like Stephan King with his pseudo-name of Richard Bachman. After I was done with that I let the name sit and brought it back out when the DCMB started getting an Internet Troll infestation so she went out and fought the Trolls while having fun here and there; she was my inner-demons running free on the Board. During that entire time, only one person figured out that I was Mary Marvel and that was MunkeyPunk. And yes, Joker did get his ladder back after I made the reveal of who Mary Marvel was.

Thanks Maze!

...and thank you to everyone that's helped to make this site an a-mazing success.

Cheers!

Jon/jmp63
